ShiftSum is built so that your data never has to leave your phone. This page explains exactly what that means.
What ShiftSum stores
The app stores the information you enter: your job name, pay rate and pay rules, the shifts you log (dates, times, breaks, tips, notes), public-holiday dates, payslip figures you type in for comparison, and your settings. All of it is kept in a database on your device only.
What ShiftSum does not do
- No account or sign-in. We do not know who you are.
- No server. The app has no backend and sends your data nowhere.
- No analytics, no tracking, no advertising, no third-party SDKs that collect data.
- No access to your contacts, location, camera, microphone or photos.
Backups and sharing
When you choose "Back up now", the app creates a file and hands it to the file picker on your phone. Where that file goes (Google Drive, iCloud Drive, a folder on the device) is entirely your choice, and it is covered by that service's privacy policy, not ours. The same applies when you share a shift list as text or CSV: the app passes the text or file to the app you pick, and nothing else.
Notifications
Reminders such as "Still working?" are scheduled locally on your device. They do not involve any server.
Purchases
ShiftSum Pro is a one-time in-app purchase processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We receive no payment details; the store tells the app only whether the purchase was made. Your purchase can be restored from the store on a new phone.
App lock
If you turn on the app lock, the app asks your phone to verify you with its fingerprint, face or PIN. Biometric data never reaches the app; the phone only answers yes or no.
Permissions
- Notifications — for the optional reminders.
- Biometric / device credentials — for the optional app lock.
- Billing — for the optional Pro purchase.
Deleting your data
Uninstalling the app deletes everything it stored. Backup files you saved elsewhere remain under your control; delete them wherever you put them.
Children
ShiftSum is a work tool intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date.
